General information, not advice
Within Tolerance (the free guides and checklists on this site) explains the published standards and rules for new homes in England in plain English, and shows where each one comes from. It is general information for education. It is not legal, surveying or other professional advice, and it can't take account of your circumstances. Reading or using it doesn't create a professional or advisory relationship between you and us.
How up to date it is
Each guide lists the documents it relies on at the foot of the page, with the date the page was last checked.
Rules and standards change, and which version applies to you depends on your own dates. Check your own warranty policy, your Quality Code version and your NHBC Standards edition before relying on a figure. If you spot something out of date, email info@WithinTolerance.co.uk.
If you're in a dispute
For a dispute with your builder, we recommend an independent snagging inspector for the facts and a solicitor for your rights.
Independent
Within Tolerance is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to NHBC, the New Homes Quality Board (NHQB), the New Homes Ombudsman Service, LABC Warranty, Premier Guarantee, Checkmate, the Home Builders Federation (HBF) or any housebuilder. Their names are used only to identify their schemes and documents.
